So I decided to call this “The Cat 🐱 Story”, enjoy reading this piece which tells of some lessons I picked up from two cats doing life together 😂…
I never thought myself a cat lover till I got to own these two.
A couple of years ago, my brother decided to get “Kitty”, the older of
the two, which he did even though we didn’t really fall for the idea.
Kitty won me over with her cuteness some few weeks later.
And then, out of the blue, I came home one day to find this other cat,
Onaapo, strolling through the corridor (Don’t ask me who named it).
My brother had peharps told himself : “It is not good for Kitty to be alone” 😂😂 and had gone to get the other cat, Onaapo, to keep her company.
It just so happens Kitty was born into a cozy home, where they were
properly fed and all that, whilst Onaapo’s mum gave birth to him in some
bush – So you might as well call Onaapo a “Wild cat”.
No wonder we actually paid for Kitty but Onaapo was gotten as a free gift 😂.
Geez! The days after the newcomer was brought in was something else, the two simply couldn’t get along.
Well, I don’t speak cat language so I can’t really tell what they argued about, but it did take some time for them to adjust.
‘Calm Kitty’ had to learn how to live with ‘wild Onaapo’ – they had to
learn to share the food that was given them and drink water from the
same bowl – they had to learn to stop fighting cos neither of them was
ready to move out – they had to learn to live in the same house.
Days turned into weeks and before long these bunch had become best buddies, up till today, it’s very rare for you to see Kitty in one corner of the house without seeing Onaapo tagging along.
So as I chanced upon them cuddled on the veranda one morning, the provoking thought came to mind to take this picture.

This picture actually doesn’t need much explanation besides the history behind these two cats who had to work their way to becoming best friends, regardless of Kitty’s calm and collected nature as against Onaapo’s wild and unpredictable nature.
So what at all I’m I driving at?
You see, most of the time we meet people and expect them to think and
act the way we do or behave the way we want them to, which can only be
described as a mere fantasy – Two people do not have to think, talk,
move, act the same or like the same things to share the bond of
friendship.
Even these creatures of instinct had to work their
way to being able to live in the same house, so what makes you think
people who are able to tell you right in the face when you go wrong are
not worthy of being your friends? Oh! So you can’t put up with them
because they’d rather not pretend around you just for the sake of
winning your admiration and friendship.
Friendship is built, not bought.
The mistakes we always make is to think the person who doesn’t scold or nag or give you some heartfelt advice when you’re evidently going down the wrong path is the best you can find as a friend.
But the glaring truth is the person who knows all the ugly and gory details about you, and keeps them as his/her secret and still sticks with you IS your friend, not the one who does all he/she can to please you when you are around and does nothing but to stab you when your back is turned.
Don’t give up on the invaluable bond of friendship you have with
someone because the person doesn’t always say the things you want to
hear but puts you in your place when you go wrong and still puts up with
you.
Trust me, a friend will laugh at you or even make fun of you
when you stumble and fall as you two walk on the street – literally 😊 – but it doesn’t end there – he/she will be right there to give you a helping hand up.
A true friend is one who is him/herself around you and accepts you just the way you are – one who believes in you and your dreams, AND most importantly, one who encourages you to become the best you could ever be.
So stop wasting your time trying to find perfect people – rather, start making real and precious friends.
~ Become genuinely interested in people if you expect them to be genuinely interested in you.
